Sponsor this courseWhat you will be able to do
Skills you add to your Herizon profile when you finish: AWS, Cloud Computing.
- A picture of how an app splits into storage, database and compute
- A safe account setup: no leaked keys, a budget with alerts
- A private network with rules that keep the database away from the internet
- The habit of reading a bill as a list of meters and tearing down what you test
- A one-page cloud plan for an app of your own
Who it is for
Time per page: 15 to 20 minutes Whole course: about 3 hours, at your own speed This is for you if you are: - A developer who has deployed something once with more hope than understanding - Aiming for a cloud, DevOps, platform or backend role in the Nordics - Joining a team that already runs on AWS You should be comfortable in a terminal and able to read a little Python or JavaScript. You do not need AWS experience. ---
The situation you work through
Joonas, one of three developers at the made-up invoicing app Laskuri, moves the app's three pieces (invoice files, database and server) from one rented machine to AWS and reads its first bill, a step per page.
Your practice task
Pick a small app of your own, real or invented, with files, a database and code that runs. Write a one-page AWS plan: which service holds each piece and why, the region, the security group rules for who can reach what, a monthly budget with alert levels, and a teardown list. Say which prices you looked up and when. Submit the plan with a short note on the trade-off you found hardest.
